Four Wheel Drives – The Difference
Four-wheel drive vehicles demand rugged performance from their transmissions, especially when used for off-road driving or towing. Unlike two wheel drive where only front or rear wheels provide torque used to move the vehicle, the four wheel drive or 4×4 uses both front and rear axle to drive a vehicle. As such the four-wheel drives are more often driven off-roads and in harsh conditions where the traditional two wheel drive vehicles would usually slip and get stuck. They are also popular for heavy load towing or other heavy duty operation that may put extra pressure and wear/tear to your vehicle transmission and drive systems. Also because of the nature of the design of four wheel drive systems, they have more compeonets to be taken care of.
